Inspired by Solilio, Ajit and many others...

'Oh the post is here!! Hope its that 'little something', he had promised me', she thought as she ran down the stairs to pick up her post.

'Well, it's certainly isn't a dress, may be it's a voucher', she thought ,tearing open the little brown envelope only to burst into tears - a speeding ticket!

PS : My very first try and was even more difficult that I had thought!

Yes, very nice.:) A speeding ticket comes by post?

@Hitchwriter - Thank you. I somehow prefer calling you Hitchwriter to Dhiren :)

@Manju - Yes, my friends have got it along with their photographs - so there was no way they could even think of contesting it :)

@Indyeah - Yes it was tough.. Even this I had to go through several iterations to fit it in 55 words :(
From what I know - there is no way of evading them unless you want to lose your license - will let you know for sure when I get one :)

Excellent! This is really good.

About speeding tickets, out here in Dubai, the camera images are so clear that it catches the number plate, the driver, whether or not he/she is wearing a seat belt or talking on the phone!

But we don't get it by post. We get to see it online! :P

I was once caught for speeding. I asked what is the limit, and the answer came - 40 Km/H!! They were actually standing next to a board that said so much and catching people! But nice story in two small paras.

@Masood, Thank you! You'll be surprised at the amount of paper that is still used here :)

@Kanagu - You get a speeding ticket , if you are caught exceeding speed limits :) You may not know that you did it until you get the ticket in the post.

@IHM, Yes, I had a tough time doing it.

@DI, Thank you! So they actually flagged you down is it? Here, there are speed cameras which capture everything that Masood mentioned and it is sent to the offenders..

@Vinod, Thank you, Yes, no news is definitely goood news, esp in such cases :)

@Varunavi , Thank you.

@Ajit, Yes, sad ending :) My friends have got tickets like too :) We got a congestion charge fine once :)

@Usha Pisharody, Thank you for dropping by, I lurk at your blog - I love the way you write!

@Vimmuuu - You do? Waiting to see your 55er :)

@Mavin, Yes, why don't you try it too? It was fun doing it..

Ha..ha..ha.. Good one Smi!

Speeding ticket is not something we want when expecting something good.

Smitha said...

@Solilo, Yes speeding ticket is certainly not something anybody looks forward to :)

kanagu said...

As I am still using cycle, they won't give it to me, even if cross the speed limit.. :D

Good to know that there are still some uses of the good old snail mail and the brown envelope. It's better to not get any mail than one like this. Good one!! Nice fiction (thank God) and very well put across.

@Kanagu - Wow! Yes, you are lucky :)

@JPJ, Thank you! Loved your 55er! It was fantastic!
