Blog Magic

I keep telling my husband how I just do not seem to be able to catch up on my blog reading - my Google reader has 1000 + unread posts and that figure is just not changing! Not surprising is it, when I keep adding at least 5 new blogs to my reader everyday!

It just amazes me to see the amount of fantastic reading, out here in the blog world.. And this is all just Indian blogs(mainly)! What a huge amount of talent.. Some of the blogs simply blow my mind away, with their words, their simplicity and their ideas! I can read and read and never get enough of it. I wait for my favourite bloggers to do their next post. I check my reader, almost constantly, to see if there have been any new posts..

And to think, that for so many years, before blogs came about, these skills and those of previous generations were lying dormant or at least very private. The beauty, I think, is in the way that you can participate.. Unlike TV or movies, where we could vicariously enjoy another's creations, here we can join in, however good or bad you are!

Just wanted to say thank you - to whoever thought up the concept of blogs!!!

By the way, from the time I started this blog, I have managed to cross the magic 1000 mark, my unread posts now stand at 998 - I have been doing a lot of reading today :)

Blogging has become a passion for me....
I absolutely second this line:
-----
It just amazes me to see the amount of fantastic reading, out here in the blog world.. And this is all just Indian blogs(mainly)
------
yes, I mainly follow blogs which are Indian and I get blown away seeing the skill of other great bloggers..... :)

What I wanna say is that, I try and maintain a balance, I dont add more and more blogs to my reading list, coz I just dont seem to manage my time that well.... :) but I do try and follow few selected blogs... bloggers with whom I can have some personal interaction and a few laughs along the way.... :)

congrats on 998.... :)

It is addiction more because of people like you Smi.

Blogging has given me some wonderful virtual friends. These days I talk about some of these people as if I know them for ages. My husband and I were even laughing at the 'thenga' fun Ajit, Abhi and I had on my blog.

When I started it was meant to be a place where I posted my views and I used to blog daily but now I love comment interaction, humor and serious both.

These are my thoughts too, Smitha. When my son introduced me to this blog world, I thought that I might do it for some months and then slowly lose interest. He tries his best to keep me engaged.

Nowadays, as soon as I have my coffee in the morning, I switch on my PC and check mail and then my blog, if anyone has done a new post! Sometimes, I sit and start reading and my husband has to literally pull me out of the chair!

It is amazing...so many people write so interestingly and I never thought even I, a normal house wife who has never tried any (though I was emailing long mails) activity outside the family responsibilities, am writing reviews, my opnions about so many things...I think you should tag people...this is looking like a post..huh.

Thanks for a nice reading, Smitha and nice to know you.

This is democratisation of the media and information...and this real, flat "peoples' revolution", not the fake one that the commies started, has just got off the blocks.

Oh yes! I totally agree...

So many blogs.. so little time sometimes! :)

And, you guys have helped me change my views in so many things... and helped me become a better person in so many ways as well :)

I agree that blogs make interesting reading and the reason is that they are people's ideas and thoughts, unedited except by the person who wrote it! Unfortunately I am also finding it difficult to keep up with blog reading and have not opened my reader for a long time! I cannot cope with it all.

I totally agree and I feel overwhelmed too when I think how
"It just amazes me to see the amount of fantastic reading, out here in the blog world.. And this is all just Indian blogs(mainly)"

I also read mainly Indian blogs, (one Pakistani blog added recently)- the blogosphere is a great place to be in!

These days IO am extremely busy but whatever happens, even if some sleep has to be sacrificed, time must be found for the blogosphee :)

but I like blog hopping more than reading from the reader, I do both though...

Blogging is an addiction for me and bad one... I cannot believe that even when i had lots of work.. I would still manage to go out of office atleast 3-4 times for smoking... now i dont want to get up....

and to boot there is no work in office... still i m completely occupied with this blogging....

infact it has become so addicitve that i have decided to try and skip google and blogger atlast one day a week. !!!

lets see how far i get...

i too keep on adding to my blog roll every day...

and i m with you on i can never thank enough the guy who thought of starting this....

i now have stopped looking for reasons why i blog...

i just keep doing it... writing and reading and exchanging comments !

cheers to our Blog samaj ! Blogosphere or whatever you want to call it !

Very true. This whole blogging thingy has made me a different person too. My terrible reading habit was limited once only to news articles and now that I have started blogging, the habit of reading is cultivated. I never knew I could express myself through writing too. and the best part is that I have a few virtual friends now and life isnt boring anymore. LOL.

PS :One of such posts was in my mind, will be doing it very soon.

It's wonderful to be part of this blogging fraternity.

And, oh yes, so much good stuff out there and so little time to read.:(

Take care.

@Ajit, Yes, it kind of takes over your life doesn't it :) I actually wake up and wait to get online to see whats come up when I was asleep :)

I can't help adding more blogs :( I lurk on most of them though :) But yes, any blogger with whom I have a personal interaction - those blogs have the highest priority :)

I've reached 938 now!! Did a lot of reading last night - friday night after all!

And yes, everyone has an opinion and more importantly, has a medium of expressing it and there is also an audience for it! What more can we ask for!

@Solilo, I have to say the exact same thing to you! It is indeed very special, the virtual bond that we all seem to share.. Its certainly amazing.. And yes, blogging is certainly much much more fun when we have interaction with others..

Smitha said...

@Sandhya, Thank you so much for your kind words!

'Sometimes, I sit and start reading and my husband has to literally pull me out of the chair' lol!

I had planned to go back to work this year - but now I worry - when will I get the time to blog then :) You are right, maybe I should tag, why don't you start off with it - and anybody else who is interested ?

@Vinod, 'This is democratisation of the media and information...and this real, flat "peoples' revolution", not the fake one that the commies started, has just got off the blocks.' I so agree! Yes, this is definitely 'democratisation of media and information'! We get to read so many different views that to be honest, it has opened up my mind to so many possibilties...

Smitha said...

@Pixie - I second that - my mind has opened up so much more since getting on the blogging world.. So many different views, different people.. Amazing...

@Nita, Welcome! Your blog is one of my favourites, but I have taken to lurking there - as by the time my day starts, you have had so many comments that everything I might have wanted to say - is already there :)

@IHM, I do both blog hopping as well as reading from the reader.. I mainly blog hop when I am at my laptop and do reading from the reader when I am on my phone - while cooking, eating - anytime that I can get away with multitasking :)

Smitha said...

@Dhiren, 'I would still manage to go out of office atleast 3-4 times for smoking... now i dont want to get up.... ' I agree it is totally addictive - I am on the phone, on the reader the whole time, while cooking, eating, whenever I can get away with it :) I just wonder how I am going to survive if I go back to work!

Yes, Dhiren - 'Cheers to our blogsamaj'!

@Vimmuuu - Waiting to see your take on this.. Yes, I have made a few friends too - it certainly made a difference in my life.. I have a virtual life too now :) Go and do that post quickly - wwaiting to read it :)

@Manju, I second that - Blogging certainly has given ordinary people a voice!

Friends are an added bonus. :)Friends have made it more fun to blog though :)

@Indyeah, Yes, Agree with everything you say - including cheers to our blogsamaj! It is certainly a lot of fun! And it has definitely made a difference in my life..
I do read other blogs - though I end up being a lurker in most of those.. Some of the blogs have diametrically opposite views to mine - but I enjoy reading them just to get an insight to the way other people think - and to be honest have learnt a lot!

Smitha said...

@Corrine, Welcome! Thanks for dropping by and for your lovely words!

Yes, it does feel nice to belong to a fraternity! So much stuff to read - and so little time - so true!

I read post your in the morning and came back again to comment.
I am completely addicted to blogging. It is really fantastic to read what other write. If blogging was not there all the talents would have gone the drain.Blogging shows how a person can be so creative.
By hopping to many blogs and reading what they write my english writting skills has improved a lot.
I almost stopped watching tv and reading news paper, what ever little time i get i rush to read the blogs i follow, which doesnt stops there,go on hoping to other blogs as well.
Intially i used to read only IHM and my friend philips blog, now i make it a point not to miss any post of the blogs i follow.
After coming here i hardly have friends, all hubby friends are mine.but not now,i have got few friends with whom i interact almost everyday,i am proud to say that i have got friends of my own.

I am loving...........

We all wonder at this new tool that has so changed so many lives.

I was introduced to this fascinating world just about ten months ago.

Like I commented on your earlier post...I read and I learn.

It has been a great journey but have taken care to keep it from being an addiction.

pradeep said...

Smitha, I am flattered. you know why? Among the pile of unread blogposts, you have chosen to read mine and comment too. Thanks a lot.

I share your views about the beauty of blogs. They are much better than the orkuts and facebooks around. Here you connect and interact with strangers over common topics of interests; and it's a lot more stimulating as well. Blogs are therapeutic and addictive too.

Really blogging is like an addiction for me. I have started this one when I felt very bored. Like you me too amazed at the talent of many individuals. And I am not using reader. Usually I go directly to the blogs and read. But I am missing some blogs sometimes :( Actually in my room we dont have net. So I will stay back in my office after working hours. I missed the blogging during sat & sun. but now I got connection in my home :)

Smitha said...

@Mavin, I really admire the fact that you have kept from getting addicted!

I especially like your blog for the kind of informatative posts that you do.

@Pradeep - Your blog is on my favourites list - so its no surprise :)

@Ajit, I am not so lucky on a weekday unfortunately - have 101 other things that need to be done - but as soon as all thats out of the way - its blogging.. Food and drink can come later :)

@Rashmi, Can imagine! Its lucky that you get to read blogs at work.. When I used to be working, my schedules had got crazy.. So in a way, I am glad I'm not working now - have all the time to blog :)

@Kanagu, Good!!That you have internet access at home! Now you can blog-hop as much as you like from home :)

Yes, I totally agree with you! Blogging has certainly changed our lives!! So many views, so many ideas! And as you mentioned, our own set of friends - not shared by the hubby :) In my case, I already have several of my 'own' friends - but blogging friends are the 'bestest' :)

Hope you have forgiven me!

Blogging has become a sweet addiction... nd even I am amazed at the talent.... nd would love to add more to my readers but time is just not there..

nd it has changed a lot of my views too.... when one follows the comments one is forced to see through a different angle and it is great.. it is like removing a few cowebs from your mind!

Earlier I used to devour the online newspapers.. but now I find that the blogs are giving a wider perspective..

but then sometimes I do wish you bloggers would slow down so that some of us can catch up :).. but then please dont....

Smitha said...

@Happy Kitten! Me too! Used to devour the Indian online newspapers! Blogging has made such a huge difference to my life..
